- 1 pound sausage meat
- 1 sheet sheet puff pastry
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 tablespoon flour (for dusting)
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the sausage meat, fennel seeds, dried sage, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle about 1/8-inch thick.
- Cut the puff pastry sheet in half lengthwise to form two long rectangles.
- Divide the sausage mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a long, thin log. Place each log on one rectangle of pastry.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash (beaten egg and milk mixture).
- Fold the pastry over the sausage meat, pressing the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
- Cut each sausage roll into 6 equal pieces and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with more egg wash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
