Ingrédients
  

  • 2 large pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and grated ginger, stirring until smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the sugar mixture into the bottom of a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  • Arrange the pear slices in a decorative pattern on top of the sugar mixture.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, salt, and baking powder.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter over the pears in the cake pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate. Serve warm or at room temperature.
